Maryvale’s Residential Treatment Program serves girls, ages 8-18, removed from their homes by the Department of Children and Family Services. Most girls in residence at Maryvale have been profoundly traumatized by prior abuse, abandonment or neglect and suffer from the effects of numerous failed placements in foster care facilities.

Maryvale and the Department of Children and Family Services work together to assist residents who typically have severe emotional disturbances and have been referred to Maryvale by the courts or government agencies because they require a higher level of professional intervention than most children and youth within the foster care system.

The Maryvale foster care program provides basic needs, education, extensive mental health support and other activities to help girls heal past trauma and embark on a path to a brighter future. In addition to the core programs, girls participate in Relationship-Building/Recreational Activities and Life Skills Training and receive Substance Abuse Treatment and other health services as needed.
